OXIDE Gallery uses two different types of Open Calls, “Artist” and “Artwork”.
They open invitations to artists wishing to be a part of OXIDE Gallery.

Our
Artist Open Calls are our way to find new artists to be a part of our
gallery, and get a feel for the type and quality of artwork he/she creates.
Artists who are currently showing in the gallery need not attend.  You will be
contacted directly as we prepare for new shows.

We ask each new artist to bring in 3 pieces of their artwork that they feel best
represents them.  Our jury will be on hand to view each piece.  We will have
the artist fill out a information form, we will photograph your artwork, and you
may take it home with you.  This process usually takes about 15 minutes per
artist.  The gallery will mail out notices of the jury's recommendations.

Once an artist has been accepted into the gallery they will be contacted as we
prepare for the upcoming show and invited to a Private Call.  At this time, the
artist may bring in additional pieces to be considered for the upcoming show.

Our
Artwork Open Calls are when we are preparing for one of our “Themed
Shows” and are looking to see only artwork that fits into the specific genre of
the show we are putting together.  This open call is for all artists, previously
accepted and new artists wishing to be a part of this show, to bring in artwork
for us to select from on the spot.

We ask that artists bring in from 1 - 4 pieces of their original artwork ready to
be chosen and placed on consignment.  Please see the Gallery Rules and
Artwork Conditions and Hanging Requirements sections before bringing in
your artwork.

Artists who have already shown in the gallery are on the gallery’s approved list
and need not show up to the Artist Open Calls unless they have ventured into
new mediums, or are experimenting with new ideas that will need to be
approved by the jury before being considered for upcoming shows.

The gallery is not large enough to hold all the artists that have been approved
by the jury.  Therefore, we must rotate artists in and out of the gallery so that
all the approved artists have a chance to show their artwork.  No one can
expect to show constantly in the gallery, but we try to be fair as to who to invite
and when.

Those artists who work hard to promote themselves and the fact that their
artwork is showing in OXIDE Gallery, attend the Gallery Night events, and
make sure to bring new people with them, are noticed!  They are also among
the first to be invited back to be a part of upcoming shows.  The more you do
to help promote us, the more we will do to help promote you.  Those artists
whose artwork tends to sell more quickly are also among the first to be
contacted by the gallery.

If you are an artist who has shown in the gallery before, but has not been
contacted recently and invited to be a part of an upcoming show, we
recommend you attend an Artist Open Call and remind the jury and the gallery
of your talents.
