Being born under the Zodiac sign Aquarius is reason enough to like
change. Other water barriers may not agree, that's a result of living in
the 'age of Aquarius'. After two decades of painting I have made effort to
change the things I can. The paint brush is now replaced with a palette
knife. I use acrylic paint which dries quickly. That makes a rough,
textured surface that builds up adding dimension to land scapes as well
as non representational and abstract art renderings. When adding gels
to the paint the colors stack on each other rather than mix which
produces another dazzling effect. Mountains have crevices that catch
light and make their own shadows. Trees, too, have real "sky holes"
made by the different levels of paint. I am loyal to acrylics because they
do dry so quickly, even when thickened with sand, fiber and other
materials brought in for experiment. As before, bold colors remain in my
paintings because I love them so.
Twenty-ten is a good year for change. Do you think so, too?
