“Images and ideas are powerful, and presenting them is what I do best,
ultimately as a traditional Artist most comfortable painting or drawing.
My approach toward Art emphasizes value in the work process where
means to expression are diverse, and despite the outcome, creativity is
an attitude toward life”.
Nikki grew up in northeastern Alberta, Canada. After three years of
formal education she led a home-based business in eastern Ontario,
working freelance while her children were young. Volunteering at
schools, she developed educational projects with themes of Art History,
multiculturalism, and environmental issues.
Until moving to the United States in 2002, commissions for individuals
and corporate clientele utilized a variety of media, styles and subjects.
Working within limited budgets and deadlines for Interior Designers and
their associates also extended her creative edge and revealed a
capacity to improvise.
Reestablished in Lewisville, Texas, Nikki has produced an entirely new
body of artwork, mostly paintings in acrylics. While participating in
juried competitions and exhibitions with other artists, the bulk of current
subject matter has been of trees and forests toward a solo exhibition
entitled, “Dancing With Trees”, accompanied by its own website. Since
premiering at The Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh, North
Carolina during June 2009, it is scheduled for May and June, 2010 at
the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum in the Steinhauer Trust
Gallery.
Most recently, guided courses are offered in Drawing, Painting, and
Mixed Media encouraging adults and children find fun, interesting ways
to express themselves creatively. Eventually Nikki would like to
incorporate Art as a means to facilitate healing.
